Can you believe 2014 is already winding down to a close? With summer over, and fall and winter racing into sight, this is a great time to start planning next year’s marketing plan. Do you have one?
There are four basic elements to consider when devising a marketing strategy:
1. Research – How is your business doing internally? Externally? What’s the current state of the competition? Finally, how successful was your growth this year? Now is the time to start changing tactics if they weren’t successful for you this year.
2. Budget – How much are you willing to spend, and how much of that needs to be spent on marketing? Consider your team size and starting point: do you already have a marketing plan that needs upkeep, or are you completely overhauling it?
3. Messaging – This is the most crucial part of the whole plan. What are you going to say to your potential clients – and how? A good marketing message is concise, piques interest, stands out from competitors, and stays true to your company values.
4. Execution – Finally, what form will your message take? This is really up to you, but you should also know your audience. Printed material, mailings, a vivid photographic ad, or a short and snappy video will all increase awareness of your brand. A strong social media presence and sleek, sophisticated website will keep it reputable and on the forefront of everyone’s mind.
